Microsoft Announces Teams Phone with Calling Plan
The main gist of this month’s Teams Phone announcement is that Microsoft is consolidating Business Voice with its Enterprise offerings in a new plan, “Teams Phone with Calling Plan.” Microsoft launched Microsoft 365 Business Voice in 2019. It provides SMEs with a complete phone solution that is designed to work with Microsoft Teams.
Teams Phone with Calling Plan was added to make it easier for companies to decide which plan to purchase and to streamline the rollout of enterprise-grade features for SMBs.
Starting January 1, 2022, customers in 33 markets will be able to purchase Teams Phone with Calling Plan directly, while companies in the US, UK, and Canada will be able to use the Teams Phone website to purchase the plan. The remaining markets will be able to join the Teams Phone train later in January.
What is Teams Phone with Calling Plan?
Teams Phone with Calling Plan is a comms product that assists SMBs in lowering costs and simplifying operations. You get calling, chat, meetings, and collaboration in a single app, so users can call from any location and on a device of their choosing, like their PC, phone, and meeting rooms. Teams Phone with Calling Plan brings together a phone system and a domestic calling plan.
Teams Phone with Calling Plan includes features such as:
- Call queues
- Consultative transfer
- Voicemail transfer
Microsoft delivers these features in Teams Phone with Calling Plan using its secure cloud technology, providing customers a reliable and high-quality experience. Management is also easy using the same administration console that you’re already using for other Microsoft 365 apps and services.
How to get Teams Phone with Calling Plan
Microsoft’s customers will be able to purchase Teams Phone with Calling Plan as an add-on to Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions, providing they already include Teams. Organizations will be able to add the Teams Phone with Calling Plan to Office 365 Business Essentials, Business Premium, A1, E1, A3, E3; and Microsoft 365 Business, A3, E3 subscriptions.
Teams Phone with Calling Plan will be available directly from Microsoft and through partners. Customers can also buy Teams Phone as a standalone option if they want to use it with a third-party calling provider.
